| Z ufar Bikbov was born in 1974 in city of Zelenodolsk (literally means "Green Valley"), suburb of millennium long history city of Kazan, on picturesque bank of the Volga river in Russia. Since he learned to hold pencil and brush in his hand Zufar was mentored by his father, a gifted engineer and artist. “I drew and painted with watercolors under the encouraging eye of my father. At home we had professional paints, brushes, paper and dozens of fine art books. Learning about art was fascinating and the process of painting was pure magic for me. As a young child, I mimicked whatever my father was drawing. Because I was ready and enthusiastic learner, my father was encouraged to teach me as much as he knew.” | |||||||

Zufar graduated cum laude from Zelenodolsk Art School with five years course.
Encouraged by his teachers to continue his education at the
Surikov’s
Moscow Fine Art University, Zufar’s family history directed him to choose
an education in a more financially secure profession. He turned to medicine
and graduated from Kazan State Medical University with further specialization
in cancer surgery. As Zufar studied and then practiced medicine, he
continued to pursue his passion for painting. As a faculty member of the Department of Oncology at the Kazan State Medical
University, Dr. Zufar Bikbov was invited to the United States through
the exchange program with Yale University. During his stay he compared
his future potential in America to his life in Russia and made the decision
to relocate his family to America. Zufar, his wife Liliya and their
two daughters Kadriya and Camilla live in Waterbury, CT. “My love of painting has been instrumental in shaping the direction of
my life. It gave me my wife Liliya, talented music teacher and singer,
best friends and sense of endless way of growth and perfection. Because
of presence of medicine in my life, I have a very special feeling about
nature and all that lives in the human soul. It is reflected in my mind
and created in my art. I love to work with oils, which allow me to be
flexible and deeply expressive. Graduated from classic realism approach
art school later trough years I experimented. I am now developing a
style, true to myself, based on things essential to life and human experience.
Realism is not forgotten either. If I compare medicine and art, last
gives me the chance to create – to feel the world and feel it in myself.
And I always wish we all remember - life is such a special treasure.” Zufar’s art is currently represented by Devon House Antiques and Gallery, Stonington, CT. _____________________________ Zufar Bikbov is an Elected Artist of Kent Art Association, a member of Lyme Art Association and Professional Union of Artists of Russia.
